Relocating to a new area can be traumatic. The Atlanta Real Estate Market is vast in size. One of the most important considerations is your selection of a Real Estate Agent to assist you in the relocation of you and your family....not just finding a home. Today's Realtor utilizes an array of services to help prospective customers in their relocation efforts with technology playing a major roll.

This Internet web page is one of those services.

Successful Realtors create web sites to provide area information in addition to actual residence data. They utilize voice mail activated pagers, digital cellular telephones, laptop computers, are available to prospective customers both day and night plus have a genuine interest in helping you with your relocation and home search.

Does your current agent provide these benefits to you? Ask your agent to help you with the following (if he/she has not already done so):

• Hotel/motel reservations for your house hunting trips
• Schools, hospitals and employer information
• Local maps
• Nice places to eat (with address and telephone numbers)
• A list of local utility providers, vehicle registration, emission control testing, etc.
• Will your current Realtor provide you with a vendor list of local service providers that you can utilize after you have moved into your new home?

Select your agent based on your comfortability with that agent....not the agent's notoriety, company affiliation or supposed area knowledge. Is the agent totally interested in satisfying your family needs? Is the agent patient and willing to work with you for as long as it takes? Does the agent point out positives and negatives of each home and/or community?

During the search process, be up front and frank with your agent regarding the property types you desire. If there are certain home characteristics you will not accept, tell the agent immediately! It's a learning process between you and the agent. The agent is not a "mind reader" so don't be shy in relating your likes and dislikes to the agent.

Finally, look for agents that have the Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR) designation. This designation is awarded to only 2% of all active agents today. This designation ensures you of a fully trained expert to assist you in the buying process.
